April & May 2017 Reading Wrap Up

Monthly Reading Wrap Up

In April, I read 6 books. Mostly, a comic book series Nana by Ai Yazawa. It is about two girls with the same name but totally different personalities that live together and are best friends. It’s an interesting and fun series but I need to think more about if I want to continue reading it.

I also read My Name is Aram by William Saroyan and The Help by Kathryn Stockett. I read My Name is Aram for my book club and it was a bunch of anecdotes about Aram and his eccentric Armenian family. It was an enjoyable and quick read. I also enjoyed reading The Help and would recommend it.

In May, I read one book, The Book Thief by Markus Zusak. It took me a long while to read it, not that it wasn’t good but it was a pretty detailed book with heavy subject matter. I enjoyed reading it very much and recommend it.

I abandoned a couple of books, too. One Thousand and One Nights: A Retelling by Hanan Al-Shaykh and Scarlet by Marissa Meyer. I might try One Thousand and One Nights again although I’m not that much into little stories with a story. I tried reading Scarlet twice but just couldn’t continue after I read the line “She wet her tongue.” Isn’t ones tongue already wet?

I am well on my way to 50 books read this year so I have to pace myself. I don’t want to be burned out. What interesting books did you read so far this year?
